SMART – Single Mothers Academic Resource Team is housed at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and funded by the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma. SMART identifies and advocates pathways for single parent students to complete their higher education goals. We’re proud to say Oklahoma has over 30,000 single parent students currently enrolled in higher education!
You already know how important a college education is to a family’s economic security. SMART partners with colleges, universities, agencies and non-profit foundations to educate single mothers on how they can enroll, thrive and graduate from college. We do this by providing no-cost presentations, our SMART magazine and through our SMART website.
We pride ourselves on expertise in first generation and student parent issues as well as financial aid and family support needs. Furthermore, we instill in potential student parents a belief they have accessible academic and financial resources in place to earn college degrees. SMART is available to meet or make presentations to single parent groups during day, evening and weekend hours. We want to be a resource worth single parents’ time and ensure our presentation meets our audiences’ needs.
